Flame & Fire Retardant Crib Mattresses

Colgate’s Stand Our company has always been a proponent of thoughtful public debate and no topic is more near and dear to our hearts than protecting children so we are grateful for the opportunity to make our position on the subject crystal clear.

What’s Inside? Our family has always chosen to use non-toxic barrier fabrics instead of harsh fire retardant chemicals to give parents peace of mind while not only meeting, but exceeding federal flammability standards. Colgate’s commitment to quality and our exacting standards are legendary in the industry. We were the first to use natural coir fiber made from coconuts shell husks and all of our products are made in America.

The Issue When it comes to crib mattresses, Colgate has always said, “It’s what’s on the inside that counts.” and nowhere is that more true than when it comes to fire barriers. A recent HBO Documentary entitled Toxic Hot Seat took an in-depth look at chemical flame retardants and their potential to make the public sick.

As parents, we know what it means to be on the safe side, and all of our products are put through stringent testing programs, ensuring a safe night’s sleep for both you and your baby. Additionally, all of our crib mattresses carry the Greenguard GOLD certification. If you have any questions about the use of fire barrier fabrics in our products or any other question about Colgate products, don’t hesitate to contact us.
